No Struggle, No Progress

Shooting 2 Dead

Disclaimer: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The scenario is all too similar as Black-on-Black crime escalates among our youth, like another form of disguised slavery. Families are suffering as more senseless deaths plague our community with no end in sight; only God knows how and what can be done to save us from such unfortunate heartache. It was a violent start to the weekend in the Morehouse Parish area, as another shooting claimed the lives of two individuals. The shooting happened around midnight in Bastrop, LA, about 20 miles north of Monroe, on Friday, May 5, 2023. According to the Morehouse Parish sheriff's office, an investigation was conducted following the shooting, and an arrest was made. Officers arrested Willie Lindarian Williams, who is suspected of shooting the victims at Welch Avenue and Pruitt Street. Investigators said that four juveniles were shot allegedly by Williams. Two of the juveniles succumbed to their wounds, while the other two were injured. The two juveniles were taken to a local hospital to receive treatment. Williams has been charged with First-Degree Murder and Attempted First-Degree Murder. The Monroe Dispatch will provide updates as they become available.
