No Struggle, No Progress
On Friday, May 5, 2023 at the Kingsway Apartments in Monroe, LA, residents were al- allegedly scared to death by an eruption of gunfire without any warning around NOON.
Shots ranged out for an indefinite period of time. Sources say there was so much gunfire at this time of day, which was scary and unbelievable, especially with a school, Roy Shelling Elementary School, directly across the street. Amazingly no one was shot or injured, which was a miracle. Bullets travel until they run their course or hit something. Many stray bullets have injured or killed innocent bystanders just going about their daily routines. Many innocent people become victims of senseless gunfire by those who feel empowered when possessing a weapon. While in the hood, gunfire and the roaring of speeding cars plague our neighborhoods, yet our top city officials tell us that crime is down in Monroe, LA. Their assessments must not be from south Monroe. Luckily no one was hurt this time, but the sound of gunfire will continue to be in the back of the minds of those who heard it.
