No Struggle, No Progress

Big News Shakeup

That cheering you have been hearing since Monday is coming from the millions of Americans who are delighted and happy, knowing that Tucker Carlson is gone. Yes, that Tucker Carlson. There may be another individual with a name like Carlson, but without the notoriety, but only one worked at Fox News. Now, that Carlson is no more and to the millions of viewers that listened to Carlson every night, there is no joy in Mudville because their right-wing hero is out, gone, bye, “see you later alligator”, gone. However, to his viewers and supporters, Carlson’s firing had to have been a shock of 10 on the Richter Scale, as Carlson was seen as the BMOC at Fox, “Mr. untouchable” to some of his colleagues. Oh, but Monday morning, April 24 is a day that will live in infamy in Carlson’s life, as he is no longer king of the hill in cable news broadcasting. How can one go from being in the penthouse on a Friday to finding out that he is in the outhouse on Monday, which must have had people scratching their heads? Could the lawsuit that Fox lost to Dominion to the tune of over $787.5 million have anything to do with his sudden departure? The network only said that the departure(firing?) was “mutual”, as Carlson was “thanked for his work as a contributor and host”, but not as a journalist. Some might see that as odd to not place Carlson with those who are journalists that work at Fox. That’s because many including those among his viewers, never saw Carlson a journalist who went out and got the story and reported it to the public. He may have done interviews from time to time, but Carlson didn’t report from the field on breaking stories from reporters that one sees when watching other news channels. Fox News is clearly looking out for its own interests, many are saying now that it has lost an important lawsuit while facing several more that will greatly impact the network. Then there are the reported lawsuits that are filed by former employees who they said, were subjected to certain workplace conditions, and a lawsuit allegedly filed by the shareholders who can’t be happy with the results of the Dominion outcome. Over the years Fox News has fired high-profile names such as Bill O’Reilly over a sex scandal and no one has heard from him since. Lou Dobbs, a fervent Trump supporter is no longer there because of what he has said and the recent firing of Maria Bartiromo, another prime-time host who echoed the same stories that Carlson did. Sean Hannity may be looking over his shoulders, knowing that if the network can fire Tucker Carlson to save itself, that he could be next. Hannity, for a time, was the heir apparent to O’Reilly, but Carlson with his propensity to put out views and bring in guests who talked about immigration and race, while supporting Donald Trump’s election lies. Carlson kept pushing the “replacement theory” about white people being replaced by immigrants in the not-too-distant future. Carlson can say that after having worked at CNN, MSNBC, and Fox, he “did things my way”.

While we are watching Tucker Carlson “set” with the sun going down, another big name won’t be seen on cable. CNN fired longtime host/journalist Don Lemon also. That firing was a shock in the cable news world, especially to Lemon. Lemon said that executives could have told him to his face of their decision to fire him. Then there are those who say that it was Lemon’s mouth that got him fired. An example was when Lemon said that Nikki Haley at 51, was “past her prime” to be running as a GOP presidential candidate which got women on both sides furious. Off course, there were others. Lemon, who had been with CNN since 2006, had his share of distractors, one being Donald Trump, who called Lemon the “dumbest man on television”. Sean Hannity tweeted “Later Lemon”. Be careful Sean. One network is trying to save itself from possible bankruptcy, while the other is trying to find its audience due to low ratings. Nevertheless, it will be Tucker Carlson who will be in the news and where he may end up at. It also shows how the mighty can fall at a moment’s notice. Remember, the world is watching. So is God.
