Woman Flees Gunman

Most strangers know that, and many feel they should be shown the highest level of respect in their own home. It is best to leave if one can't abide by the house rules.

A local woman found out that some will violate those rules. Monroe Police got a call of a disturbance occurring at an Allen Street address where a firearm was involved. Before officers arrived at the scene, they encountered an individual based on a description of what the alleged suspect looked like. Officers apprehended the suspect on Gordon Avenue. The alleged suspect was identified as 23-year-old Xavier D. Birden.

After securing the suspect, officers visited the victim's residence to inquire about the alleged incident. The victim said that Birden was at her residence, where he allegedly caused a disturbance. The victim stated that she asked Birden to keep the noise down, according to a police report. That's when Birden allegedly produced a handgun and began to chase the victim out of her residence, which was part of an apartment complex. Birden has been charged with Attempted Second-Degree Murder, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Contraband Defined. There is a B.A.L.M. in Monroe is a spiritual solution to a social problem.
