No Struggle, No Progress

No Company Needed

Disclaimer: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Break-ins, as a crime, happen quite often across the nation. Homes, businesses, and even churches are broken into; some places, like a church, would seem to be off-limits, but that is not the case anymore. Furthermore, there are some places where an individual isn’t expected to break in, like a jail or a funeral home. Yes, a funeral home. It would seem that a local man didn’t seem to think that breaking into a funeral home was abnormal. Never say never. According to Monroe Police, Monroe resident 20-year-old Boris Richard, Jr. allegedly broke into the Smith Funeral Home and was brazen enough to allegedly FaceTime a friend and live-streamed while inside the funeral home. As Richard allegedly used the social media platform, graphic images of dead bodies that were inside of the funeral home were shown. The break-in allegedly happened on April 7, 2023, but authorities didn’t arrest Richard until April 10, 2023. MPD was notified of Richard’s call to his friend, as he allegedly made the call while in the embalming room, which is normally quiet and cold, leaving the dead undisturbed until it is time for final preparation. Police said that Richard doesn’t work at the funeral home, nor did officers say how Richard broke into the funeral home. Richard was taken into custody and transported to Ouachita Correctional Center (OCC), where he is being held. He was charged with Unauthorized Entry of a Place of Business. According to police, Richard was released on April 11, one day after being arrested on a bond of $1,500. Break-ins like this are not something one is used to hearing about; those dead people didn’t need the company. Wonder what might have happened if one of those bodies reached out and touched him...
