No Struggle, No Progress

National Library Week

Show your appreciation and support for libraries by visiting your local community library during National Library Week, April 23-29! The theme for National Library Week 2023 is "There's More to the Story," illustrating the fact that in addition to the books in library collections, available in a variety of formats from picture books to large print, libraries offer so much more. You can check out at your local library items like DVD's, CD's, BCD's, ebooks, Playaway's and much more. Library programming brings communities together for entertainment, education, and connection through book clubs, Storytime's, movie nights, crafting classes, and lectures. And library infrastructure advances communities, providing internet and technology access, literacy skills, and support for businesses, job seekers, and entrepreneurs. National Library Week is a time to highlight the essential role that libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening communities. In addition to visiting your local branch, you can shout out your love for libraries on social media. Stop by Carver-McDonald Branch Library and receive your bookmark, check out our book display, and receive other giveaways. Joyce Powell, Branch Manager, 2941 Renwick St., Monroe, LA., 318-327-1477.
