No Struggle, No Progress
Disclaimer: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. "He wanted to be famous". Monroe Police Chief Victor Zordan said those words following the arrest of 18-year-old Issazavian Webb, who had been on the wanted list of local law enforcement since February 6, 2023 and had been on the run eluding police. Webb was alleged to have fired at three police officers using an AR-15-style rifle and was arrested on April 6, 2023. A $10,000 reward was offered for Webb's capture soon after the alleged shooting. Webb's freedom from arrest came when MPD said that officers pulled over a Chevy Suburban in south Monroe for running a stop sign.
According to Zordan, an officer observed Webb in the back seat. Two other individuals in the vehicle with Webb were ordered to exit the vehicle. Zordan said Webb jumped into the front seat, put the vehicle in reverse, and backed into a police unit. A chase involving police units led to a foot chase ending with Webb being apprehended. Zordan also said that the vehicle Webb was found in was stolen and was a suspected vehicle used in a drive-by that had happened previously. A stolen handgun was recovered in the vehicle. Police said they are investigating who may have been harboring Webb as they were seeking his whereabouts. Zordan said that Webb's definition of being famous is in jail. "He's a coward, and hopefully, the judicial system will hold up," said Zordan.
