No Struggle, No Progress
Disclaimer: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. A local man is fighting for what he says is to restore his dignity and character following an alleged domestic incident that led to his arrest. He also said that he is fighting false charges leveled against him, stemming from a domestic altercation with his ex-girlfriend. Jo'Darius Robinson said things between the mother of his son (his ex) started when he went to pick up his son on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. According to Robinson, things became heated when the ex-girlfriend saw another female with him and allegedly challenged the woman with Robinson to a fight. A fight allegedly ensued, with Robinson eventually leaving the premises, but unknown to Robinson, someone called the Richwood Police Department. On Wednesday, March 22, Robinson was arrested for allegedly making threats to his ex-girlfriend and her mother at their residence. Robinson said that a female Richwood officer told him to remain in place while she allegedly finished "putting on" her uniform alongside Brown Rd. where he was stopped. That is when Robinson learned that he had warrants stemming from what he thought was the incident that happened on March 1. Robinson was told that he was stopped because of an alleged incident that occurred on Monday, March 20, where Robinson allegedly "terrorized and threatened" to take the lives of the alleged victim and her mother. According to Richwood PD, Robinson made other alleged threats that he would "kill everyone" in the house and bury them in the yard. There were also alleged threats on social media made by Robinson. Robinson was charged with Terrorizing, Cyberstalking, Aggravated Assault, and Communicating False Information about Planned Arson. Robinson is currently fighting those charges after being held at (OCC) Ouachita Correctional Center. Robinson said that he talked to Richwood Police Chief Johnny Cleveland concerning the incident and the actions of the officer who wrote up the charges. Robinson said that the officer "had no evidence" of him doing anything illegal and that he was never contacted or notified of any action taken against him. Cleveland allegedly told Robinson that he would "look into" the matter to see if the officer in question acted with probable cause. On Tuesday, March 28, Robinson said that he met with Chief Cleveland and Richwood Mayor Gerald Brown concerning his arrest, where it is alleged that both men apologized to him. According to Robinson, Cleveland allegedly said that he will further investigate the statements of the victim and take action if they were false. Robinson said that he also has social media information to support his claim of false arrest, not just his word against that of the alleged victim. He even said that the reports in the news media helped destroy his character because the officer, in his opinion, did not have the evidence to support the charges. Robinson has to wear an ankle monitor until his case is settled. He has a court appearance on Monday, May 22 but is hoping that by having another look at the charges by appropriate individuals, he can put matters behind him and move on with his life. He is 19 years old, has a job, his own place, and is a responsible father. Robinson says he just wants to restore his character because the charges against him are not who he is.
