Christopher Avery's Final Farewell

Christopher C. Avery was born on December 22, 1970 to Marilyn Owens Avery and the late Robert Earl Tucker. Christopher's early education began at Our Lady Help of Christians (OLHC), H.V. Adams, and Morehouse Parish Junior Schools in Bastrop, LA. He was a 1988 Bastrop High School graduate. He began his studies at Grambling State University and finished his Bachelor's degree at the University of LA Monroe. He longed for more medical knowledge, so he went on to receive an Associate's degree in radiography from Carver Technical College and a Master's degree from the University of Phoenix. Christopher was an exceptional human being with numerous accomplishments and accolades. He was initiated, passed, and raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on June 7, 1991, as a member of Fidelity Lodge No. 5 under the jurisdiction of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Louisiana. On September 17, 2005, Christopher was elevated to sublime Prince of the Royal Secret 32nd degree as a member of Louis R. Price Consistory NO 173 Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite in Monroe, LA. Noble Christopher Avery was created on May 21, 2006, into the Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine as a member of Jomadi Temple NO 171 at Monroe, LA. He served as Potentate for Jomadi Temple from December 2011 to December 2014. Christopher was elected a Grand Inspector General of the 33rd degree under the United Supreme Ancient and accepted Scottish Rite for the 33rd Degree of Freemasonry Southern Jurisdiction Prince Hall affiliated on October 10, 2016. He also served as Imperial Deputy of the Oasis for Jomadi #171 in 2016 until he was appointed Imperial Deputy of the Desert Organizer in 2020. Christopher and Jomadi #171 were responsible for a health fair where participants were screened for diabetes and high blood pressure, which later evolved into the Rodney and Lis Jones Charitable Luncheon. Christopher was initiated as a member of the Rayville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity on April 20, 2012. Christopher's calling was to help and serve people. He did that through his dedication and love for medicine. Before spending his last years in the medical travel industry, Christopher was employed by Ochsner Medical Center in Monroe, LA, in radiology as a night supervisor for 18 years. Left to cherish Christopher's memories are his wife, Yolanda C. Avery; mother, Marilyn Owens Avery; step-mother, Vera Tucker; mother-in-law, Cleola F. Ware; sons - Christopher, Gregory, Sean (Janice) Jermaine; daughter, Danielle; and a host of family and friends.
