No Struggle, No Progress

Barbara Caldwell's Life Celebration

Barbara Joyce Hall Caldwell was born in San Francisco, CA, on July 21, 1948, to the late Clarence and Barbara Hall. She accepted Christ at an early age and stayed active with her church community. She graduated from Rhymes High School in Rayville, LA, in 1965. She also attended Grambling State University from 1966 to 1967. She was married to Freddie Lee Caldwell on April 18, 1967, and four children were born to this union. Barbara earned her CNA certification, LVN, and other additional certifications in Dementia and Alzheimer's care. Barbara learned the ins and outs of the home healthcare industry by first working as a certified nurse's aide. Barbara was well known in the home healthcare community for her work ethic and the excellent care given to her patience. Mortuaries knew her patients because not one of Barbara's patients ever exhibited decubitus (bed sore). She would receive phone calls from the mortuary commending her on the condition of her patient's body. Barbara was such an expert in Dementia and Alzheimer's that she knew each stage in these horrific diseases. She knew to take the patient's wheelchair because she noticed how they were beginning to stumble. She had bed pads and diapers ready because she knew the patient was forgetting how to go to the bathroom on their own. Barbara was able to always be a step ahead of each stage in the progression of Dementia or Alzheimer's. Her compassion and dedication were second to none. For these reasons, she was the best of the best for over 40 years in the industry. She worked tirelessly to ensure her children were educated and exposed to the finer things in life. Barbara had the heart of a giver. She gave to her family, friends, and community. Barbara departed this life on March 29, 2023, passing peacefully in her sleep at the age of 74. She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Hall; her father, Clarence Hall; her sister, Connie Hall; and her great-granddaughter, Taylor Burns. She leaves to mourn her passing her four children: Marsha R. Caldwell, Freddie Caldwell, Jr. (Kathrynn), James Caldwell, III, and Kevin Caldwell (Dawn); one brother, James Winston; two sisters, Marsha DuPree and Kathie Hall; eight grandchildren, Jayson Burns (LaKisha), Deja Caldwell, Syairra Caldwell, Jordyn Caldwell, Kayden Bruce, Azhane Caldwell, James Caldwell V, and Skylar Caldwell; seven great-grandchildren: Aleigha Murphy, Alexander Murphy, Caleb Burns, Alen Murphy, Jada Hernandez, Ailani Calloway, and Asai Johnson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services are Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Richardson Funeral Home, 1866 Winnsboro Rd. in Monroe, LA.
