No Struggle, No Progress
Romans 6:23 For the wages of in is death, but the FREE gift of God is eternal life, through Christ Jesus, our Lord.
A man and his small son spent so much time together. He loved his son so much. They would take walks together. The
father would carry the son on his shoulders sometimes. Whenever the young boy would hurt himself, he would run to his father. When he did, his father would wipe every tear. He took naps with his father whenever he was home. They
were just inseparable. One day, the father took the son to the local park. They
had a blast, but then the son began to look at the other kids in the park.
They
all had toys; he didn’t. When
the son and the dad got home, the son began to ask his dad about toys.
He
wanted some like the other kids. His
father loved him; so, the next day, he got his son the toys. The following day, the
dad came home from work, but the son didn’t
run to meet him like he usually did. He
was playing with his toys too much to even look up at the father.
The
father was so sad, but very happy
that his son gave him a hug. As
time went by, the son paid less and less attention to the father.
The
father grew sadder and sadder, and finally he took the toys at certain times,
to preserve the relationship with his son. Many
of us are like the son in this story. We
have God, our Heavenly Father. We
start off well with Him- spending time praying, praising and in God’s Word.
Then,
we began to look around desiring
more things. Many
desire
his hand more than His heart, not knowing that the key to His hand, is His heart.
When
the Lord does bless some with things, they don’t
even look up at the Father anymore.
The Father is moved that many are more desirous of things than they are of Him. That is why it seems as if some blessings have stopped. It seems as if God has taken some things away. Well, He has, in order to preserve the most important thing- that is the relationship itself. The Father misses you. He never meant for things- anything, to come between you and Him. If you want what’s in the storehouse, you must get in covenant. You want gifts, but Jesus Christ is the true Gift!
