No Struggle, No Progress

Infected

In the Bible, Jesus would sometimes speak in parables to others. He did this to make clearer the message He was trying to convey. This is what I am attempting to do with this article. There was a child who had a runny nose. The parents wiped his nose and kept going. The thing is- the child’s nose ran constantly and was accompanied by a persistent, strong cough. There was also a fever present, but the child’s parents refused to treat him, get medicine or take the child to be evaluated by a physician. The

virus that was in the child, began to grow worse. Eventually,

the child passed the sickness on to others.

The whole household became very ill,

because of that one child’s untreated condition. It

didn’t stop there though. The

other children in the household took it to their friends in the community and

schools. The parents passed it to coworkers and others

in public places, like the local stores.

It was horrible, because

eventually, some died from something that could have been properly treated. Monroe,

because of the little things that have been ignored, now there is an

“infection” that has spread throughout the whole city. When

there were just minor issues to be addressed, they should have properly been. The

“runny nose” that developed into more, is now affecting the entire city. Now,

what’s seen (crime, poverty, division and more), has

grown into something almost untreatable.

For some, it is truly too late. Monroe,

Louisiana is sick. The minority communities are infected with

poverty, crime and more, because of neglect.

From the household to leadership,

many could and should have done better.

Now is the time to treat this condition

before there are more deaths- including the city itself. Somebody

needs to step up and do so now!
