No Struggle, No Progress

Trampoline Minor Injured

Disclaimer: All persons are innocent until proven guilty. Louisiana has stringent laws on how minors are to be handled by adults. Just as there are laws for physical abuse on adults, the penalty for abuse toward minors who often can't protect themselves carries harsh penalties. In what may have been an attempt to have a good time at a local playspace, it didn't turn out so well for a local man. According to Monroe Police, officers responded to a call at the Altitude Trampoline Park around 2:59 PM on Monday, February 20, 2023. Officers arrived on the scene in the parking lot, reacting to a call from people at the scene. Officers said that witnesses at the scene observed an adult male allegedly hitting a minor multiple times in the abdomen area. After conferring with witnesses, officers made contact with 39-year-old Otis O. Winn. Winn allegedly told officers the child was his, but he did not strike the child. After further investigating, officers noticed bruising marks on the minor, according to police reports. The victim/minor was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for injuries he sustained from the incident. Winn was arrested. Officers searched Winn and discovered 14 individual bags containing marijuana. He also allegedly had $1,105.00 in cash on him. After his arrest, Winn was transported to Ouachita Correctional Center (OCC), where his bond was set at $30,500. Winn was charged with Cruelty to Juveniles, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance.
