No Struggle, No Progress

Ex-Wife Stabbed

Disclaimer: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. When a crime is committed, a swift arrest is a welcome relief both for the victim and the community. Not all arrests are quickly carried out, as circumstances often can have a lot to do with an impending arrest. For one local, the arrest of her alleged attacker may have taken longer than some, but she is relieved that he is now behind bars. In December 2021, a woman was involved in a domestic altercation with someone she once loved, her ex-husband, Ezekiel Menyweather. According to reports, the woman was allegedly stabbed in the neck/head area by the male individual; she was only able to get away from him by climbing through a window of the residence where the incident occurred. An individual who was a witness for the victim met her after she escaped the residence and agreed to meet with law enforcement at a local gas station for assistance. According to law enforcement, the victim was taken to another residence by the witness where deputies made contact with the victim's sister.

Deputies asked to see the victim, but she wouldn't meet with them because she had a warrant for her arrest and didn't want to go to jail. Deputies then went to the residence she escaped from; no one was home, but while they were there, police did notice a broken glass window. Reports indicate that the victim was eventually located at a residence on Coolidge St. in Monroe. The report shares that the victim left her sister's home before the alleged stabbing incident due to her and Menyweather having relationship problems. After arriving at Menyweather's home, Menyweather allegedly turned the music up loud and began assaulting the victim. After hearing the victim's testimony, deputies got an arrest warrant for Menyweather.

On Tuesday, February 14, 2023, Menyweather was finally put behind bars. He was arrested and charged with False Imprisonment, Domestic Abuse Battery, and Attempted Second-Degree Murder. That was some Valentine's Day present.
