No Struggle, No Progress

Accept You

Psalms 139:14 I will praise You; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: Marvelous are Your works; and that my soul knows very well. There is an undeniable desire in humans, for acceptance amongst peers and those of our circle of influence. Individuals seek approval in various ways, in everyday life. We all want to believe at some point, that what we feel or believe is worthy of the acceptance of others. This is normal, but when others’ acceptance becomes such a desire, that it turns into a desperate need, it can be very detrimental and have adverse effects on anyone. That’s where far too many in this generation are today- using social media “likes” and interactions, peer applause, compliments, and other forms of approval, for validation. This is a reflection of low self-worth. It’s what opens the door for pride and unhealthy habits as well. Seeking approval from others all the time, means giving others power all of the time, to define those yielding the power. Nobody should hold that much power in our lives. If so, others will control our emotions, responses and views. When others have that control, it’s easy to get us out of character and honestly, out of purpose/the will of God. It’s okay to want to be loved and accepted, but healthily so. Sometimes, you have to realize that you need to celebrate yourself, compliment yourself, be proud of and congratulate yourself. You need to notice the beautiful and wonderful things inside of you. You need to discover just how worthy you are. Do this also, in a healthy manner. Give yourself time to know yourself better; then, give room for error. Become more comfortable with yourself, without needing others to be around you, expressing approval or disapproval. Do realize, this is the life that God gave you. If you want to please anyone, let it be HIM. Be who God’s called you to be. Ask Him to help you see yourself the way He sees you. Believe what He shows you, take it and shine brightly in this dark world. You matter sister/brother, but you didn’t need me to tell you this. Accept you!
