No Struggle, No Progress
Matthew 5:14 “Ye are the salt of the earth….” These days, even six-year-old children are firing weapons, domestic violence cases are increasing, more parents are hurting children, and other ridiculous issues are arising. It’s a mess, and something has to change because too many are leaving before their time. Too many are suffering. Why is this so? Why is this generation so angry? This is one of the most innovative, creative, and gifted generations, yet, all of that ingenuity is being used to destroy and self-destruct. All that power is being turned on itself. Lack of love, attention, proper affection, morals, and self-control are breeding grounds for destructive behavior, but one of the most important things that many lack in this generation is the fear of God. Many have abandoned the true and living God to chase this dying world and the things of & in it. Parents have fed their children so much of this world and so little of God’s Word. They have strengthened and nurtured what should have been starved (the flesh) and starved that which should have been nurtured (the spirit). Now, we see what the strengthening of flesh has produced. Dysfunctional homes often produce dysfunctional, troubled children. These troubled children, who saw mom doing the unthinkable and dad often not there even to do that, go out into the world and repeat these unhealthy cycles until somebody decides it stops with them. This is an angry generation because of what was done but also because of what hasn’t been done. The ball has been dropped, and souls are crying out for someone to pick it up. Will we? Show love. Be an example, a Godly example. Be a doer of God’s word. Be productive. Be a light. This world is in darkness, and we are the only hope for this generation that feels it has no hope. May we be willing to be shaken by God onto others and this world. We ARE the salt, right?
