No Struggle, No Progress
Jacquelyn Ann Logan-Scott, or "Jackie" as she was fondly called, was born on February 20, 1954 in Monroe, LA. She went home to be with the Lord on November 28, 2022, at the age of 68, with her children by her side. Her parents, Ramsey Logan Jr. and Ozell Mayfield Cotton, and two sisters, Shari Lynn Logan-Kellup and Doris Cotton preceded her in death.
Jackie accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of 8 at Walls Lake Missionary Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA, under the leadership of Reverend David Dorsey Sr. She later moved her membership to Zion Spring Baptist Church in Monroe, LA where Reverend E. J. Jones was Pastor. She attended Neville High School and graduated from Carroll High in 1972. She later attended Northeast Louisiana University (now the University of Louisiana at Monroe).
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Andrew (Jerry) Scott on July 28, 1973. Their union was blessed with three daughters, Tamara Scott-Hamilton (Christopher), Brandyce Scott, and Andrea Scott-Atkins (Stanley). She was truly loved as a wife and mother and will be overwhelmingly missed.
Jackie retired from Walmart in West Monroe after 30 years of dedicated service. During that time, she received numerous awards and recognition. She later embarked on a new career and started her own successful tax preparation business, where she had a long list of faithful and returning clients.
Jackie loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. She loved cruising with her family every year. She was a very loving person and was always the first to step up and help. She was always known for putting others before herself. She was the rock of the family and the person everyone went to whenever they needed a laugh, a smile, or encouraging words. Family and friends will gather to pay their final respects on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at St Mary Baptist Church on Peach St. in Monroe, LA. Visitation will be Friday, December 9, 6:00 - 7:30 PM at Smith Funeral Home. Jackie was the oldest of nine girls. She leaves six sisters to mourn and cherish her memories - Yvonne Logan (California), Gwendolyn Logan-Gill (the late Merherdis)(Texas), Marcia Cotton-Flowers (Freddie)(Virginia), Alecia Cotton (Louisiana), Karen Mayfield (Louisiana), and Dawn Mayfield-Hamilton (Robert)(Michigan).
