Gun Pulled in Store

Disclaimer: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. We all want to feel safe when we venture outside our homes as we go through our day. It could be on the job or just going out to do some errands, especially when we go shopping. But things are not like they used to be. According to police reports, a local man was arrested after he allegedly pointed a gun in a Jackson St. business Tuesday morning, October 25, 2022. The man, who Monroe Police identified as suspect Laranza McDaniel, allegedly was in the Jackson St. business when he produced a gun while there were customers inside the store. According to Monroe Police, McDaniel also caused some damage while inside the store that was captured on the store's surveillance system. McDaniel would soon vacate the business going outside, where he allegedly pointed the gun at a store employee. The report by MPD indicated that McDaniel did not fire any shots, only that he pointed the gun at the employee. McDaniel allegedly left the store, was found, and was arrested by Monroe Police on Morton St. sometime later. He was transported to (OCC) the Ouachita Correctional Center. He was booked on a litany of charges, including Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm, or Carrying Concealed Weapon by a person convicted of certain felonies, Disturbing the Peace, and Simple Criminal Damage to Property.
