No Struggle, No Progress

Minority Districts, Display Your Pride!

It’s been a long, challenging time for citizens in Districts 4 and 5. Monroe has suffered economically and negatively statistical wise, for years. Nobody though, has suffered more neglect and economic depravity, than the minority districts. This was even with a former administration. Think about Monroe’s leadership for years. The minority districts have been suffering for so long. It’s time out for it! This blame cannot be laid upon the leadership either. Now, if they drop the ball, during their administrative tenure, hold them accountable. Understand though, that the current administration needs grace, just as the former had- except it shouldn’t take them years to hear the cries and requests of the citizens. Now, as I will always say, there is responsibility and accountability that fall upon the citizens in minority districts as well. It’s time to start; therefore, start with something as simple as trash. Start throwing trash where it belongs and not where it can contribute to hazardous conditions (especially during storms and flooding). No matter who is in office, the citizens always have a responsibility too, to keep their community up in a manner that expresses that pride is being taken in it. Leaders need to see that citizens are willing to work with them as well. All of the responsibility does not lie upon elected officials. Together, the districts suffering most, could grow most. Start showing pride, by not throwing trash in areas it shouldn’t be in. Stop dumping items in places it shouldn’t be dumped. Start attending more council meetings and events, designed to help in your community. There is a community clean up that Councilwoman Kema Dawson is putting on for District 5, on October 1, 2022. Even if it’s your own lawn you want to clean up, do that. It's time out for sitting on the sideline complaining (for those of you who do). It is time to be apart of the betterment of your community. If not, as citizens who show poor participation in improvement, you may never see the change you want in your community. You should be tired and ready to embrace something new, something amazing. Stand up and show your pride!
