No Struggle, No Progress
The start of a new school year is the mark of a new beginning for a child. During this time, they get new clothes, new shoes, new school supplies, and sometimes even a new hairdo all with the premise of starting with a clean slate. This is big for a child. The transition to a new grade signifies kid growth for them. The beginning of a new school year marks transitional periods that they can actually see. Before the school year officially begins, take time to talk with kids and provide perspective on the blessing of beginning something again or for the very first time. This is the perfect opportunity to make good decisions. Encourage them to make decisions that will make their beginning, middle, and end of the year great. It’s the perfect opportunity to develop discipline. Create a schedule around school and activities. A plan is thoughtful and creates organization. A beginning is a great time to set boundaries and structure. Boundaries and structure help them to create rules for themselves. Establish what will happen if the rules are broken. Also create a reward for when the boundaries are maintained exceptionally well. It is such a blessing to have a new start. We all need to reboot from time to time. Adults too can experience similar new beginnings. Weeks, months, and new years were created for a reason. They begin and end. Use the beginning or ending of a week, month, and year to reflect and redirect thinking. It is never too late to begin again!
