No Struggle, No Progress

Let Our Ancestors Tell It: Women's Health

"Senator, I cannot say I’m disappointed with the Supreme Court decision. I feel you may need more education on abortion rights. Katrina, I don’t think you know what women went through in the seventies. We had a mantra no more than coat hangers. Girls from Grambling and LA Tech were sewed-up and treated by allegedly 'Green Clinic' in Ruston, LA. Some did not make it. They would let nothing stand in the way of getting an education. We were all elated when Roe v. Wade became law. I wonder sometimes what your grandmother would think of your bill. Can I suggest that you as an African American leave abortion to those who have it their life's mission? I’m still proud of you and wish you the very best in the Senate."

The Late Clara Etta Tombs, a few years before she passed away in 2021
