No Struggle, No Progress

Gun, Gas, Temper Flares

A Ouachita man who allegedly has a criminal past found out the hard way that some things just don't mix. Deputies say that Ladalle G. Norwood, 29, was inside a residence in east Ouachita Parish when he suddenly produced a gun and fired at the front door of a residence. According to reports, the shot was preceded by a violent outburst when he was told that someone was knocking on the door. There was also an adult and two children inside of the residence with Norwood at the time of the incident. Norwood allegedly went outside where he retrieved a gasoline container and poured gas on the front door, where according to the report, some of the gas got on the clothes of the children. Deputies say that the adult and the children were able to flee from the residence from Norwood, leaving him alone. Responding deputies indicated the smell of gasoline on the children's clothes, and a witness said he believed that a shot was fired. Deputies also suspected that illegal narcotics played a part in Norwood's outburst. Norwood allegedly was not at the residence when the incident happened on Sunday, May 29, 2022. Norwood would be taken into custody on Wednesday, June 1, as deputies would find that Norwood has a criminal past that included violations of two protective orders. In addition to that charge, Norwood was also convicted of aggravated assault with a firearm in 2015. He allegedly has several pending charges with child endangerment and multiple violations of a protective order warrants. Court records also indicate that Norwood has a 2019 conviction of aggravated assault of a man with a knife, and a 2020 arrest claimed he walked up/down the road threatening to kill people. He is currently in Ouachita Correctional Center(OCC), facing charges of violating protective orders, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and setting combustible materials. Some things just don't mix. It will land you in jail.
