Joe Louis Smith was born December 6, 1942 to the late Louis Smith and Queen Esther Jones Johnson in Bosco, Louisiana. He was a graduate of Carroll High School. He also attended Barber College where graduated and became a licensed barber. He worked as a barber part-time while working full time at General Electric Supply House as the warehouse supervisor. When GE Supply House closed, Joe went to Montgomery Ward and worked as warehouse supervisor until they closed. Not ready to retire yet, Joe made his way to Target.
