No Struggle, No Progress
Doris Olivett Galloway Lewis was born June 25, 1954 to Jerutha "Bit" Galloway and the late Rev. Acie Freeman Sr. She was a Richwood High School class of 1972 graduate and furthered her career at Northeast Louisiana University (now ULM) majoring in Speech and Hearing Pathology. She married the love of her life, Corby Clark Lewis, and to their union were three children, L Quincy, Derekia, and Jana Lewis were born. Doris loved the Lord! She worked at New St. James as a secretary for 25 years and worked diligently with the youth and young adults for numerous years. She also worked as a 911 operator for several years. She departed this earthly life on March 21, 2022 at Ochsner Health in Monroe, LA. Doris was preceded in death by one son, L Quincy Lewis, two sisters, Cassandra Galloway and Gloria Barber, two brothers, Acie Freeman Jr. and Edward Galloway. Left to cherish her memories are a loving and supportive stepmom, Dianne Freeman; two daughters, Jana Lewis Carter(Floyd) and Derekia Lewis of Raleigh, NC; seven sisters, Donna Moore (T.J.), Sherri Galloway, Shelia Peevy, Daphnee, Allegra, and Nyoka Freeman and Genara Morris(Daniel); one brother, Royce Galloway; five grandkids and three great grands whom she loved dearly; and a host of close cousins and family members. She will be laid to rest Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 11:00 AM at New St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 1010 Richwood Rd. Burial will be at Richwood Memorial Gardens. Masks are required to attend the funeral.
