Give It to Jesus!

Matthew 11:28 - Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 1 Peter 5:7 - Casting all your care upon him; for he cares for you. My daughters and I had just purchased groceries for the house. We made it home and began to unload the groceries. We had to walk upstairs, so I told my youngest to not get anything that was too heavy for her. Well, we know children. She picked up heavy bags anyway. I began to watch as she struggled, thinking she would get tired and finally listen but she was relentless. I said, “Baby, give me the bags; they are too heavy for you.” While struggling to walk, she said, “I got it ma”. She struggled unnecessarily. She began to get so frustrated with her failed attempts, that she finally said, “Momma, please get this. I can’t do this anymore. It’s too much.” I stepped in and got the job done. We were both relieved. I hated to see her struggling, but it wasn’t until she surrendered, that I could take over. Sometimes, life can hit us with so much. We feel the heaviness of our cares. We feel things weighing us down; yet, we still will not surrender to the still, small voice that is saying, “It’s too heavy; let Me carry that for you”. Until we do, we walk around with unnecessary burdens, heartache, pain, shame and more. That’s not the way God intended our lives to be. He wants us to know that our concerns are His. He loves us and He cares. Let today be the day, that you give those heavy “bags” over to the One who can handle them. Haven’t you carried them long enough?
