The Importance of Being Informed

We’re living in a society where entertainment is preferred over information (at least the proper information). People would rather gossip about irrelevant topics, than to be informed about what’s happening in their communities, for better or worse. Many don’t know anything about who’s in charge of making decisions that affect them, or certain laws and regulations that directly affect them. Many don’t expect much from elected officials and other community leaders, because they are unaware of the weight that positions, and titles actually carry. This is why for years, certain areas/sides of Monroe, Louisiana have been left neglected and nearly desolate. The constituents of certain areas look at leaders as celebrities and not servants. They are surely not celebrities. They have either been called, elected, or chosen to represent and tend to the needs of those around them. Therefore, it’s extremely important to be informed. The uninformed can easily become prey. What you don’t know WILL hurt you; just look around. The Black community is hurting, because a lack of knowledge and not to mention, perishing; but this can all be turned around. It’s time for change! It’s time to get informed. Know your Bible. Know your laws and statutes. Know who governs you. Know who represents you. Know their responsibilities to you. Know YOU. You need to know who you are, so that you won’t miss out on the inheritances God has for you. Educate yourselves. Get informed! If you do, you can change so much around you, and teach others to do the same. Happy learning!
