Fatal Hit n Run

Another hit-and-run fatality occurred in Monroe, LA, on January 19, 2022, on Standifer St. where suspect Jeremy James, 33, allegedly hit Leroy Dorsey, 61, in a hit and run accident. The victim, Leroy Dorsey, later died as a result of the accident. According to police reports, Leroy Dorsey was hit by a hit-and-run driver south of Monroe city limits. LA law states it's a crime to leave the scene of a crash, regardless of who is at fault for the crash. Police have charged the suspect with one count of negligent homicide. Leroy Dorsey was born April 26, 1961, to the late Edward and Bernice Dorsey of Monroe, LA. Leroy was educated in the Ouachita Parish Schools system and later became a talented mechanic. He was always there to service those in need or teach others who desired to learn the trade. Leroy was a kindhearted, caring person who greeted everyone with an infectious smile and a few choice words guaranteed to make you laugh. Leroy leaves to cherish his memory: two sisters -Bonnie Cushenberry (Stanley Cushenberry) of Spring, TX and Linda Dorsey; two brothers - George Dorsey (Johnnie Mae Dorsey) and Charles Dorsey (Debbie Dorsey) of Monroe, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends that he loved dearly. There have been two hit-and-run fatalities in Monroe, LA, recently. The other hit and run accident involving Janecia Walker on December 6, 2021, where her brother and others found her on Hwy 165 N. Still, no suspect or arrest has been made.
