SMIGS' Story

In 2017, two new entrepreneurs stepped onto the business scene. Monroe natives and owners of SMIGS Errand Service, LLC, Larry and Katima Wiley made history, as they operated the first errand service in Northeast Louisiana of their kind. SMIGS Errand Service, LLC is an errand and delivery service, which caters to individuals, families and businesses. SMIG stands for "Send Me I'll Go", and was inspired by the Scripture, Isaiah 6:8. After losing their homes to a natural disaster and unforeseen circumstances, the couple was left searching for a new home together. This is where their business idea was birthed. The couple said they are avid believers in Jesus Christ and trust God's plans. They feel as if the seemingly misfortune, was just a blessing in disguise; being it's what pushed them into entrepreneurship. The couple began to assess needs in the community. From there, they prayed, sought counsel, assistance and established SMIGs. They received business tips and assistance from the ULM SBDC. The couple credits Senior Business Consultant, Christina Davis and staff, for the instrumental role in assisting with the launching of the business. SMIG'S serves Monroe, Louisiana and all surrounding areas. They are now also serving Arkansas and Texas communities. Their goal is to serve more of the community, with the same integrity, professional and dependable customer service, they've provided for the last four years. Also, the couple is working to help families, by providing financial opportunities as they grow. SMIG's first grant was given last year to a young entrepreneur in Monroe. The Wiley's said they plan to continue being a part of the change they want to see in their community. With services from delivering breast milk from working mother to child at daycare, to getting groceries and heaters to those in need, SMIG's has proven to be not just a delivery service, but a true ministry.
