No Struggle, No Progress

Irma DeTiege Scholarship

Legendary Irma DeTiege was a nobody who became somebody. She emerged from the obscure cottonfields of Riverton, LA to Monroe, LA, blazing a trail that many have followed. She believed in who she saw in the mirror, and with God's grace and mercy she believed in her abilities. Each year the Monroe Dispatch celebrates her legacy by honoring deserving students with a scholarship in her memory. Thanks to all who have donated to the Irma DeTiege Scholarship Fund. Your kindness is always appreciated. 2021 Irma DeTiege scholarship recipients were Ayana Bowden and Faith Shepherd. Thanks to P.E.E.P. ( People, Economics, Education & Public Service) and the Ava Pierce family for your generous contributions.
