No Struggle, No Progress

Iola Joyceline Fogel's Cherished Memories

Sunrise August 18, 1938 - Sunset September 2, 2021

Mrs. Iola Joyceline Fogel, of Highland, California, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2021 at the age of 83. A 42-year resident of the Inland Empire, Iola was the much-adored wife to the late SMSgt Edward I. Fogel, USAF Retired, who departed this earth on March 6, 1999. Born on August 18, 1938 in Delhi, Louisiana, Iola was a scholar in high school and was Valedictorian of Little Flower Catholic High School. Always known for her caring of people, Iola went on to become a Certified Nurses' Assistant, Licensed Vocational Nurse and Certified Home Health Aide, always finishing first in her class. In 1988, she started her own Day Care Service in Highland, California and provided excellent care for all of the children under her care. An avid sports fan of her Dallas Cowboys and Notre Dame Fighting Irish, one of her greatest joys was being a proud and supportive military wife. She was an active member of the NCO Wives Club for many years, a very supportive Team Mother for all of the many sports her boys played, and her team treats were always a big hit! As a wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, Iola loved and cared for others with tireless energy and devotion. She was truly the lifeforce of her family. An absolute pillar of strength to all those who knew her. Her chats and telephone calls were legendary! Iola always left you feeling renewed and confident that whatever she told you, you believed that you could achieve. Her unmatched beauty, brilliance, wisdom, honesty and sharp wit will always be cherished eternally. Iola taught all those in her life how to overcome adversity and achieve happiness by the way she lived her life every day. Never one to complain, Iola used her unwavering faith and trust in God to get through her lowest lows while always giving thanks to the One who made it possible. Iola instilled in her sons that God always has the final word, and His Word is that of Hope, Happiness and Love. Iola's legacy will be carried on through her loving sons; Tyrone T. Wright and his wife Elizabeth "Liz", Derrick D. Wright and his wife Shirley, Victor V. Wright and his wife Lynell, John E. Wright, Jr. and his wife Da-Shannon, and Torre D. Fogel; her brother Greg Riley and his wife Deidre, and her sister Janice Barney and her husband Luther; her eight grandchildren; Tracy D. Wright, Kori D. Hall, Tyler D. Wright, Myisha Smith, Camille Wright, Cassidy Wright, Jasmine I. Wright and Justin A. Wright, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends. Chapel service will be Tuesday September 28, 2021 at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel in San Bernadino CA. Iola will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, SMSgt Edward I. Fogel at the Riverside National Cemetery on September 28, 2021. We, her family, will always rejoice in the life of our Mother, Wife, Sister, Grandmother, Auntie, Cousin and friend, who will always be remembered as a remarkable, extraordinary woman and who will be missed beyond measure.
