Domestic abuse is a tumultuous behavior that affects many people. The abuse may take the form of verbal abuse, sexual abuse, physical battering, or psychological (emotional) unavailability. Abuse is a learned behavior and has an escalating cycle; abusive behavior cuts across all racial, ethnic, educational, and socioeconomic boundaries. According to police reports, on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, police arrested suspects Ronald Otis and Dantrica R. Daniels for domestic battery in the presence of a juvenile. Suspect Otis and his live-in girlfriend were involved in a physical fight at their home they shared in Monroe, LA. Daniels alleged that Otis grabbed a hammer and attacked her. Six children were present to witness the attack. The oldest, a 17-year-old, and the youngest, age 2, were all emotionally affected. The oldest child provided details of the incident sharing that Otis grabbed the hammer and tried to hit Daniels. After his arrest, Otis admitted having the hammer but claimed he'd taken it away from Daniels during the struggle. He also allegedly admitted that he intended to strike Daniels. Police spotted bruises on Otis' head, forearm and hand. Both parties admitted to being under the influence of alcohol and gave conflicting reports about the incident and how injuries were sustained. The struggle observed seemed violent and physical. Both Otis and Daniels were arrested and charged with domestic abuse battery, child endangerment. There are three sides to every story.
