No Struggle, No Progress
It was a beautiful summer day when Reverend Perlum and Perceille McCaa Toombs welcomed their 8th of 9 children, Clara Etta Toombs, affectionately known as 'Tiki', into the world in Monroe, LA on June 27th, 1953. Clara was preceded in death by her parents Reverend Perlum Benjamin Toombs and Perceille McCaa Toombs, her two brothers Percy and Perlum Toombs Jr., and two sisters, Lullie Toombs Whitehead and Sharon Toombs Wilborn. She is survived by her son Perlum Clark McCaa Toombs of Seattle, WA; her grandson Perlum Clark McCaa Toombs Jr of Seattle, WA; her sisters, Johnnie Everfield “Roosevelt” of Monroe, LA, Jessie Jones of Carson, CA, Beverly Toombs of Monroe, LA, Alice Toombs of Baton Rouge, LA; two close cousins, Johnnie El McCaa “Debra”, Charlie Roggerson “Mary” along with 8 nieces, 17 great-nieces and 10 great great-nieces, 7 nephews, 12 great-nephews, 13 great great-nephews, several cousins, and many many treasured friends. Clara truly believed in Proverbs 3:5-6. Clara’s path led to heaven as she passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2021. Memorial services were held Wednesday, April 25, 2021 at First Methodist Church in Monroe, LA. Services were entrusted to Smith Funeral Home in Monroe, LA.
