No Struggle, No Progress
In Monroe, LA, city school students are hurting and in dire need of a new 21st-century school system education that could provide more hope and equity for a better, more prosperous future. With the new school year beginning next week, many hope school board leaders remember to keep the students' best interests first over conflicting agendas. The children of Monroe are a reflection of the city's future. In order for the entire city to move forward, more attention, more importantly, more resources have to go to the neediest schools in the area. Time will tell if decisions made by city school leaders truly reflect the best interests of the students they serve. School board members' questionable voting can only lead many to suspicions on what other decisions are haphazardly made. Time will surely.
