No Struggle, No Progress
On April 28, 1960, Romona Hobdy (Montgomery) was born to the union of Floyd and Mary Hobdy in Winnfield, LA. She was the youngest of 3 children.
Romona was raised in Union Hill Baptist Church, where she became a Christian at a young age and was an active member.She attended and graduated from Winnfield Senior High School in Winnfield, LA. After graduating from high school, she attended Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, LA, where she relocated and remained. She married Lenard Montgomery, Sr. on June 6, 1980. To this union, four children were born. She received her Associate's degree in Criminal Justice and General Studies from Delta Community College. She worked at Swanson Correctional Center for 20+ years and retired in 2020. Preceding her in death is her father Floyd Hobdy, her mother Mary Hobdy, and her sister, Myrtle Rena Hardwell. She leaves to cherish her beautiful life and memories one son - Lenard Montgomery, Jr. (Tiffany Montgomery) of Monroe, LA; three daughters - Samantha Hansen (Skyler Hansen) of West Jordan, UT, Mary Haynes (Patrick Haynes) of Gonzales, LA, Sharde Montgomery of Monroe, LA; one stepdaughter - Shontesa Smith- Banner (Markeith Banner) of Monroe, LA; one brother -Lorenzia Butler, Jr., Detroit, MI; and seven grandchildren - Jafus, Aiden, Drake, Kaylee, Natalia, JaKolby, and JaNiya. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Her graveside funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Union Hill Cemetery in Winnfield, LA.
