No Struggle, No Progress

Longevity Walk

On Wednesday, July 21, 2021, Mrs. Catherine Bryant symbolically walked "the walk of longevity" celebrating 100 years with family and friends marshalling her on through applause and warm shout-outs. As she walked the imaginary red carpet from the entrance to the rear of Dr. Alyce Adams' office where a surprise birthday party awaited, she was filmed by Jesse Davis of Fox 14, NBC 10. His interview with her was quite heartwarming to all as he did a genuflect on one knee showing honor, reverence, and awe of her legacy. Having witnessed 10 decades of trials and tribulations, Mrs. Bryant credits God for survival and the joys of life. Proclamations were read from Gov. John Bel Edwards and also Dr. Alyce Adams office, her doctor of many years whom she praised for curing her of Covid-19. Rodney Brown played a special saxophone tribute of Stevie Wonder's "Happy Birthday" song where everyone joined in on the chorus. Against the extraordinary backdrop of unique and clever decorations by "Let'z JAM", daughter Eletha Murray took her mom's hands and shared a little victory dance of thanksgiving. There were so many who wanted to show love and appreciation that there was an 11 and 12 o'clock group of well-wishers. The party continued Saturday where the gathering looked like "Big Momma's Family Reunion". Cousin Bertha Brown, who moved back home from Springfield, MA, hosted a BBQ pit especially made to cook 30 slabs of ribs at a time. Everyone can get in on the celebration by praying that Mrs. Catherine may celebrate the 120 years God granted us in Genesis 6:3. To God be the glory!
