No Struggle, No Progress
Yulonda Yvette “Pookie” Hollins was born December 4, 1972 in Monroe, LA, to Dorothy Chatman and Joe Jackson. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a powerful woman of God. She spent her time raising her five children, loving others, and cleaning and beautifying anything she touched. Yulonda rededicated her life to God in 2018 when she became a member of New Hope Pentecostal Church. She loved to attend church. She worked in the church by helping with the youth praise dance team. Yulanda was a mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, niece, and loyal friend. She always had a smile, hug, laugh, or encouraging words. Yulonda went home to be with the Lord Monday, July 19, 2021. She was preceded in her heavenly home by her mother, Dorothy Chatman, and father, Joe Jackson. She leaves to carry her legacy and memories five children: Delonquice, Tyree Hollins (Jessica), Jeffon Hollins, SirTimothy Hollins, and Antonio Hollins; two sisters - Shevonna Hollins-Williams and Romekia Hollins; one brother - Micheal Jackson; 11 grandchildren, and a village of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends. She also loved her pastor and church members. She was a radical with her praise and loved the Lord with all of her heart. Her presence is felt in the church even though she is absent. She left a mark on the ministry that will never be forgotten. We have truly lost a bold soldier for the Lord. Funeral services are Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Greater Free Gift Baptist Church at 1:00 PM. Visitation is Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at McFarland’s Funeral Home, 3:00 - 6:00 PM.
