Remembering James Carter

Hearts are saddened at the passing of James A. Carter, a husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Carter will be remembered as a guy who put others first while giving his best in every endeavor. He was a hard worker and family man who supported and helped with all he possessed. His legacy of dedication, endurance, and loyalty will always be treasured. James worked at Riverwood International Paper Company for 15 years and retired, working as Lieutenant Deputy with the Ouachita Parish Sherriff's Department for 20 years.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Felma Carter; daughter - Robin Smith-Brass; sons - Roderick Carter(Tamara), Wiley TX; SFC Retired Army veteran James A. Smith, Lithonia, GA; sisters - Bennie Mae Smith of Houston, TX, Rosemary Harris (Edward) of Dallas, TX, Flora Ford (Frank) of Warner Robbins, GA; one brother - Fred Carter of Monroe, LA; six grandchildren; seventeen great-grands and a host of family and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents Fred and Alberta Carter, and one brother, Samuel Carter. Funeral services are Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Miller Funeral Home in Monroe, LA. Visitation is Friday, July 16, 2021, 2:00 - 6:00 PM.
