Gregory Bridges' Unexpected Death

News of the passing of Gregory Bridges, 70, sent shock waves throughout the Monroe community and beyond. Hearts are saddened by his unexpected passing shared by family and friends on Thursday, June 17, 2021. Gregory was a great guy who had a heart for people. He was a Lincoln High School and Grambling State University graduate, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting. Gregory was married to Dorothea Joseph Bridges. To their union, three daughters were born. He lived a life in which he compassionately spoke by sharing the word of God with his family and friends. He was a member of Parkview Church of Christ in Monroe, LA. Gregory was a Grambling University Alumni Association member, where he enjoyed traveling and attending Grambling football games, and spending quality time with family and friends. He was the first Black president of the Louisiana Probation and Parole Association, former city of Monroe Transit System Supervisor, and an outstanding coach at Little Flower Academy in Monroe, LA. Left to cherish his fond memories are his wife Dorothea Bridges, three daughters - Rochanda (James) Carter of Houston, TX, Cheranda (Stanley) Ogletree, and Genorris Bridges both Monroe, LA; brothers - Ralph Bridges, Ruston, LA, Lonnie Stringfellow, Bastrop, LA, and Kevin Stringfellow, Dallas, TX; sisters - Mable Stingfellow, Los Angeles, CA, and Rita Bridges, Bastrop, LA; and a host of family and friends. Facebook Live visitation is scheduled for Friday, June 25, 2021, 5:00 PM. Visitation is Friday, June 25, 2021, 5:00 - 8:00 PM at McFarland Funeral Chapel in Monroe, LA. Funeral Services are Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Parkview Church of Christ, 1706 Parkview Dr., Monroe, LA.
