No Struggle, No Progress
Hearts are saddened at the passing of hometown hero Ambrose Jenkins, 66 of Monroe, LA. Ambrose made his way to King's Row Tuesday, May 25, 2021. His parents were the late Rev. Emma Thompson Richardson and the late Ben Jenkins. Ambrose was a Carroll 1972 graduate, where he was an All-Star basketball player and talented musician who could play several instruments. He honorably served in the United States Army and obtained veteran status. Ambrose was a skilled electrician before his health began to fail. He was a person who never met a stranger and didn't mind people knowing his all-star basketball skills. Preceding him in death was his wife, Ellen Ellis Jenkins, and two sisters Brenda Watson and Emma Thompson. Left to cherish Ambrose's memories are two brothers - Walter Thompson (Lisa) of Kansas City, MO and Ben Jenkins Jr. (Mitzi) of Monroe, LA; one sister -Linda Drumgo (Henry) of Monroe, LA; four daughters - Shannon Jenkins Holland (Jeffery) of Monroe, LA, Tawanna Allen of Shreveport, LA, Lasundra Murphy of Birmingham, AL, and Lotoyia Daniel of Waco, TX; nine grandchildren; and a host of family, nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services are Friday, June 4, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Smith Funeral Home in Monroe, LA. Visitation is Thursday, June 3, from 4:00 -6:00 PM at Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Northeast Louisiana Veterans' Cemetery, 2413 Highway 425, Rayville, LA.
