No Struggle, No Progress
Bernard Menyweather is a native of Monroe LA. He is the middle child of four siblings. Menyweather has been married to Thelma J. Menyweather for fifty- five years. From their union came one daughter, MonaLisa Michelle, and two grandsons, Nicholas D' Andre' and Cameron Alexander. Menyweather received his B.S. Degree in 1965 from Grambling State University. He received from Northeast Louisiana University, his M. ED of Art in 1974, a Masters plus 30 hours in 1975, Secondary and Combination School Principal Certification in 1977, and Ed. Specialists with a major in Supervision in 1979. Bernard Menyweather recently reached the young age of 84 in April 2021. He decided to further his education two years ago. To me, his daughter, it is a definite testimony. It screams dedication, perseverance, and encouragement. He not only decided to go back to school two years ago, he set a goal and completed the task. He obtained his PhD, a Doctorate in Philosophy in Theological Studies. His dissertation was written to confirm an answer to his daily meditations and prayers to God. Selflessly, all his hard work was done in hopes of encouraging his grandchildren and those who need hope, inspiration, and encouragement to press on and reach the mark that the Lord has set before them. My mom has been with him every step of the way as a supporter, encourager, cheerleader, typist, proofreader, and so much more; while continuing to run their home to perfection, fill in the gaps with her grandchildren, and help wherever else she was needed with church, family and friends. My father once said, "God can use anyone, put God first, follow His will, stay focused, keep hope alive, God will strengthen you in your darkest hours. Our responsibility to our Father is to be obedient to His Holy Will. Only God can bring real success to our endeavors." Matthew 6:33 states, "The thing you should want most is God's kingdom and doing what God wants. Then all these other things you need will be given to you."
