Barbara Walker Augurson Loving, Kind, Caring

Barbara Jean Walker-Augurson, 78, of Monroe, LA, ascended to Glory on Friday, April 16, 2021, in the loving care of her family. Barbara was born on July 13, 1942 in Gilbert, Louisiana. She was one of nine children & recently celebrated her 2nd Wedding Anniversary with husband, Oscar Augurson, who survives her. She was a member of Eastside High School's Class of 1961 (Downsville, LA) & received her Associates Degree (Business Administration) from Delta Area Vocational School (Monroe, LA). As a loving mother & the matriarch of the family, she dedicated her life to caring for her family. Though she lived a very private life, Barbara was a world traveler, a fashionista who never turned down a shopping opportunity, an avid sports fan & a devout reader of God's Word. In her professional life, she dedicated over 40 years to the students of the Monroe City School System serving as an Administrative Assistant at Morris Henry Carroll Senior High School & at Neville Senior High School. During this time, she served as Cheerleader Sponsor, Communication Liaison for College Recruitment, Honorary US Air Force Recruiter, Athletic Department Bookkeeper & surrogate Mother to ALL of her students. She is also survived by her 3 children: Stephanie Walker-McLeod, Anthony Walker & Terrance Walker. Eight Siblings: Lula Mae Simmons (deceased), Milton Caldwell, Margie Caldwell-Gauthia, Arthur Caldwell, Mary Boden-Harris (deceased), Cynthia Brown, Mitchell Ray Caldwell & Steven Caldwell. Visitation – Friday, April 23, 2021 – 6 – 7:30pm Smith Funeral Home 907 Winnsboro Road Monroe, LA Life Celebration – Saturday, April 24, 2021 – 11am Greater New Antioch Baptist Church 301 Sherrouse Avenue Monroe LA. Interment – Saturday, April 24, 2021 – Immediately Following Life Celebration Richwood Memorial Gardens 2705 Richwood Road #2 Richwood LA.
