No Struggle, No Progress
There was once a shared love for one another in the city of Monroe. Blacks greeted one another, whether they were acquaintances or strangers, with respect. Somehow that respect for one another has gotten lost throughout the years. It has gotten so bad, one now dares not to speak to younger Blacks nor think to help offer correction in their shortcomings. What happens after the love is gone? According to police reports, police rushed to Kingsway Apartments in the 4200 block of Elm St. across from Roy Shelling Elementary School to a fatal shooting that claimed the life of Anius King on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. According to witnesses, the victim was shot numerous times around 3:00 PM. Video and witnesses saw this gruesome neglect of death not only on television but in person where the victim's body laid idle for a moment in time. Families will be grieving, especially children left behind after such a tragic ordeal. Many questions are looming. Why did this tragic incident happen? What was the motive for such a gruesome death? Suspect Decarvious Sellers was taken into custody, arrested, and charged with second-degree murder and illegal carrying a weapon. Both families have our sympathy. In tragic incidents, there's only grief and memories of those suffering. There are three sides to every story. This was one side of this story.
