No Struggle, No Progress
What once only happened far away is now happening in small towns at America’s doorstep. Drugs, guns, and violence are running rampant in the US, from cities with millions of residents to towns with a few hundred citizens with no end in sight. These types of crimes show that there is a significant disregard for life for some. The disregard for life from those who struggle, financially & mentally, often at no fault of their own, has severe implications for all humankind. According to police reports, two separate shootings occurred on Saturday, April 3, 2020, in Monroe, LA. One occurred at an apparel store where an argument inside a business went to the parking lot where 28 shots were fired, according to witnesses. A victim was shot and then airlifted to a medical facility for more extensive care. This horrific situation with numerous shots fired has left the victim still alive and in stable condition. Another shooting in the wee hours of the morning Sunday, April 4, at around 1:30 AM at BoBo’s Bar on Sterlington Road left patrons scrambling for their lives as six were victims of gunshot wounds. Many times horrendous acts of violence scar those on the scene forever. Luckily no one was killed in the gunfire, but six will be left with permanent scars and varied conditions. Police are investigating each shooting with forthcoming arrests. There are three sides to every story. This was one side of this story. The Monroe dispatch welcomes the other or another side of this story.
