No Struggle, No Progress
A late morning house fire left an elderly couple with serious injuries on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 in Monroe. The fire occurred at their residence on Carver Street, but the occupants were able to get out of the house. The house had extensive damage because the fire, according to the Monroe Fire Department, was likely attributed to faulty wiring. The couple was identified as Tommy Lofton and his wife Eloise, according to Lofton's niece Johnnie Thomas.
Though emergency personnel arrived at the Carver Street address within minutes, Lofton and his wife had to receive emergency treatment. They were removed from the scene, and Thomas said that her uncle is now on life support at a local hospital while his wife is in Shreveport receiving treatment for second and third-degree burns. Thomas also said that her uncle and his wife lived alone, as Lofton was known as someone who was an independent individual. The couple had been able to care for themselves. Now Thomas is asking for prayers for her uncle and his wife, hoping that they will recover from their injuries and be able to continue with their lives. Please keep them in your prayers.
