No Struggle, No Progress
Allen Daniel Ellis, Sr. was born the last and boldest child to the union of the Late Roy James and Thelma Smith Ellis in Monroe, LA on September 17, 1949. Allen did it his way until he found a peaceful rest with his Lord and savior on the morning of March 8, 2021
Allen, like so many young men in the Flynn and Adams street neighborhood found comfort and haven in Little Flower Church and school campus. Allen united with Little flower church and served as an Altar Server and in many other youth roles. He was educated in Monroe City School System, Little Flower Academy and was a 1967 graduate of Richwood High School.
After high school, Allen attended Grambling State University and graduated in 1972 with a bachelor's in business administration. He later was employed by Monroe Housing Authority and a security logistics company until his lengthy illness.
Allen found favor in the Lord and fellowship as a member of The First Missionary Baptist Church, Monroe, LA. He enjoyed weekly bible study under the leadership of Pastor Tegitra Thomas.
Sweet Al, as many called him, had a love for people and never met a stranger. He especially had a love for his family, the neighborhood, and those who lived there.
He is proceeded in death by his grandparents, parents, sisters, brother in Laws, and niece.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children Katrina Ellis Sylvan(Michael) and Allen Daniel Ellis, Jr. (DyAndrea); (7) seven grandkids ; (5) five great-grandkids; (3) three nieces and (3) three nephews; brother-cousin, Benjamin Burns; his brother-friends, George E. Belton, Sr. and Ronnie Riley; god-sister, Ms. Gloria Walker; former-wife and caregiver Margaret Jo Wright Ellis; and a host of cousins, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Miller Funeral Home Friday, March 12, 2021 1pm-4pm. Celebration of Life will be held at Miller Funeral Home Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 2pm. The family ask that you adhere to Covid-19 guidelines and mask mandate.
