SENIORS COVID-19 VACCINES AVAILABLE

There are still many senior citizens are unaware that the COVID-19 Vaccine is available to you. The decision to take the vaccine is the individuals; however, medical sources highly recommend that you take it for your own protection.

To receive the vaccine at one of the listed places as a senior citizen, you must be 70 years or older, which puts you in Phase 1B, Tier1.

However, some of you are unaware of the process through which to acquire them. As a reminder the following places in the Monroe and West Monroe area are being supplied with the vaccine from Louisiana State Department of Health, listed alphabetically.

· Aron’s Pharmacy (Monroe)

· Brookshire’s Pharmacy (18th Street-Monroe)

· Primary Health Services Center (Monroe, West Monroe, Grambling)

· Rx One Pharmacy, St. Francis

· Super One Pharmacy (West Monroe)

Not included on this list is Walgreen’s Pharmacy because it is currently the vaccine resource for residents of nursing homes and rehabilitation sites. Some hospitals may also have the vaccine; however, a confirmation return call had not been received at the time of this printing.

The process for obtaining the vaccination, the following steps should be taken (in order provided).

· Call the site and let the personnel know that you are interested in getting the COVID-19 vaccination. YOU CANNOT SIMPLY WALK INTO THE SITE AND THE VACCINE WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU. YOU NEED TO HAVE AN APPOINTMENT. You will be asked for specific information which is necessary for them to compile reports of numbers of persons receiving the vaccine.

· Have ready your date of birth, cell phone number on which you can be reached at all times and proof of insurance.

· Most places have waiting lists of senior citizens, however, give them your information anyway. You may receive a phone call, in case, there is a cancellation or a no-show. Look forward to a call to receive an appointment, so answer your phone.

· Go to the site and provide your identification and information about the vaccine.

· Be prepared to stay 15 minutes flowing the vaccination for observation to ensure your safety in leaving. You will be given a follow-up appointment for your second vaccination.

You will not be given the vaccination if you go without making a call to make an appointment first.

Look for emergency warning signs for COVID-19. If you or someone you know is showing these signs, see emergency medical care.

· Trouble breathing

· Persistent pain or pressure in the chest

· New confusion

· Inability to wake up or to stay awake

· Swollen lips or face
