No Struggle, No Progress
Preston McHenry, Jr. 90, was born September 6, 1929 in Monroe LA to Preston Sr. and Ethel McHenry. Preston attended and graduated from Little Flower Academy in Monroe LA. He passed from this life December 27, 2019 in Tulsa OK. Preston served in the United States Army from 1951-1954. He was a decorated Korean War Veteran. Preston was a longtime member of High Dimension Evangelistic Church in Tulsa. He later joined and remained a member of St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church in Okmulgee Oklahoma. He especially enjoyed Sunday School and faithfully drove every week to attend services until his health did not allow. Preston was employed as a computer programmer by Standard Oil of Indiana, which became Amoco Corporation. He retired from Amoco but maintained many of the friendships established. Preston loved playing tennis and golf. He loved to roller skate and was a champion swimmer. He regularly watched sports on television and would boisterously cheer on Golden State Warriors and Serena Williams. He loved food and had an insatiable sweet tooth. Preston was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson Nicholas Culver, a great grandson Jason Floyd and five siblings. Left to cherish fond memories are his wife Elizabeth, children Allison Howard, Angela Williams, Antoinette Culver and Preston McHenry lll (Yvonne), one sister Betty Steel and a host of siblings, cousins and friends. Funeral services were January 2020 at Ninde Funeral and Cremations in Tulsa OK.
