No Struggle, No Progress
Darlene Caesar has been on a crusade to clear up what happened to her father, Ivory Walker at the hands of a close family relative who she says, abandoned him. In a phone interview, Caesar pointed out some of the things her sister ALLEGEDLY did when Walker was very ill. During the time when Walker needed medical attention, Caesar and her sister Robin was to watch over him. But according to Caesar, Robin only half heartedly took care of Walker, allegedly saying that “she had her life” to live, and that most of the share of caring for Mr. Walker fell on Caesar’s shoulders. Caesar said that she has had conversations with her father and was told that Robin “wasn’t helping” him anyway. Caesar relayed an alleged incident where Robin took Walker to a local hospital and left him there. Caesar said that she found out about what had happened when she was at a personal doctor’s appointment and overheard one of the receptionists ask why Mr. Walker was dropped off at the hospital? Caesar said that her sister allegedly left where she was living to come stay with Walker and look after him, but Caesar said there were times when she had to do the things like keeping doctor’s appointments in Robin’s place. When asked why by her father's nurse, Caesar said she didn’t know, but her priority concern was her father’s health. There were also alleged instances of neglect according to Caesar, as her father’s movements were restricted and he would need assistance to move around his home. After questioning her sister about what her father told her, Robin said that she needed help. The sisters had a strained relationship according to Caesar, but her main concern was taking care of her father and being home with her husband. Caesar said that gave her sister an application along with other information for her father to receive a grant to renovate his home. Nothing came out of it, Caesar said of the application because it allegedly was not submitted. Things would reach the point where Robin allegedly decided to return back to Texas, as Caesar would only find out that Robin left after hearing from other family members. Caesar said that after receiving a phone call concerning her father, she was shocked and angry to find her father on the floor covered in waste because no one has checked on him. Since things fell on Caesar’s shoulders to care for her father, she said that she was forced by another family member into making the decision to become her father’s Power of Attorney.
Caesar received Power of Attorney and handled her father’s affairs. But after about a year, Caesar said that Robin returned to Monroe and somehow allegedly had Power of Attorney transferred to her. It got worse according to Caesar. With Power of Attorney, Robin allegedly moved back into Walker’s home(now renovated), changed the locks, had Caesar’s name removed from her father’s bank account, and would not have any personal information about her father released to her. Caesar said that she felt betrayed, but she then realized that it was all about her father’s finances. With Power of Attorney, Robin had control of everything, Caesar alleges. Caesar said she didn’t think things would end up where they did. Her father died several years ago. She says that many things were taken from her. She is determined to get them back. But Caesar says that it was a local hospital that is to blame for what happened to her father, not just the alleged acts committed by her sister. And it is because of that, Caesar says that she will continue to fight for her father’s legacy because he deserved better.
