No Struggle, No Progress

Cry For Justice

No mother wants to go through the agony, pain and hurt when they have to bury a child. We are told that it is supposed to be the other way. But no one knows the day or the hour and under what circumstances we will leave this world. A Monroe woman had to bury her son a few months ago, another victim to the senseless violence that occurs within this community. Shelia Cage received the heartbreaking news on August 27 that her son Manious "Red" Williams, III, went injured when he was hit by an automobile on Hwy 165 that night. An MPD officer was near the scene on another matter when it was brought to his attention of Williams' injuries and he was rushed to St. Francis hospital. Williams would later succumb to his injuries, allegedly described as "multiple blunt injuries". But Cage and family members are convinced that there is more to what happened to Manious and they are hoping that an arrest will be made soon, as it has been several months since his death. Cage said that she has placed "numerous" calls to MPD, but the pace of the investigation at this moment, has not yielded significant results. Cage said that she realizes that the police departments has other cases to investigate, she said it would do the family good if they would hear from the detective who is handling her son's case. As of press time, there has been an arrest announced, as the family know that the holidays are rapidly approaching. All that the family knows, is that Manious went to see a female companion during the time when a storm passed through the area resulting in a loss of power for some. That allegedly happened at the residence where her son was. It is believed that they decided to go to a motel for the night hoping that the power would be back on the next day. They would return to the residence the same night. But the family believes that something transpired at/around the residence, or in the area where he was. Someone was alleged to have seen him and told him to get assistance from the MPD officer who was nearby. That is when he was allegedly hit by an automobile trying to cross Hwy 165. Questions has arisen about the circumstance surrounding Williams' death, as the family is frustrated at the pace of the investigation, but are holding on to the belief the right individuals will be arrested for having any part concerning Williams' death. The family recalls Williams as being a caring, giving person. He loved his family, that he would give his last. Helping people was what he liked to do. But that has been taken away from Cage and her family. Please keep the Cage family in your prayers and for justice.
