No Struggle, No Progress

Less is More

I enjoy the holidays because it's a time of year when the pressures of life are subdued and I get a little reprieve from the norm. Since I am home more, I have more time to do things I enjoy like cooking. I presume most Americans are like me during the holiday season and are in a cooking frenzy, especially because tv networks develop and devote more time to shows about holiday baking and cooking. I relish in being at home baking cookies, drinking a sparkling beverage, and watching Christmas movies on TV. I am no Top Chef (yet), but I can burn! I am especially proud of the things that I have mastered over the years. Even though I have a few recipes in my personal cookbook, every now and then I forget an ingredient or two that really makes or breaks the way a dish taste. I most often forget salt when I cook in fear of adding too much. If I get too overzealous, I put too much and the dish is ruined. I have learned that a little salt goes a long way. Allowing people to add their own according to their specific taste is what truly works also. That is, after all, the reason why salt and pepper are made available on tables around the world. The less is more approach can be applied to many things in life. Whenever you question things in life start low and stay steady. Find your stride.
